Nancy Lindquist

Mixed Media

Nancy C. Lindquist is a Calgary-based mixed-media artist, poet, and maker whose work is inspired by the natural world and the quiet possibility of transformation. Birds and animals sit at the center of her art, serving as both subject and companion. To Nancy, they are reminders of the larger living world to which we belong, and a source of healing, wonder, and connection.

Her artwork combines collage, dye sublimation, and acrylic painting in a unique process developed over many years. Small fragments of polyester fabric are assembled, transformed through heat and pressure, and then painted into, creating richly textured hybrid works that blur the boundary between textile and painting.

A recurring theme throughout Nancy’s work is reclamation. She is drawn to materials that have been overlooked, discarded, or outlived their original purpose. In addition to her wall art, she creates journals from vintage books and rescued materials, along with small poetry books that pair words and images in celebration of beauty, mystery, and everyday grace. Giving old things new life is both a creative practice and a personal philosophy.

Whether working with fabric scraps, worn books, or fragments of experience, Nancy is interested in the possibility that something beautiful can emerge from what appears broken, forgotten, or unfinished. Through her art and writing, she invites others to slow down, pay attention, and rediscover the wonder hidden in ordinary things.
